Who needs therapy?
I have it all; do I still need therapy?
You're busy, successful, have everything you could ever want and more than you could ever need but you still feel like something is missing. You have taken a different direction from your peers, misunderstood by your loved ones, stressed and burned out and feel like you can't ask for help without appearing weak. The pressure to succeed, the constant demands on your time, and the fear of admitting you need support can all contribute to feeling lost.
It is important to know that you're not alone.
Many people struggle with mental health issues and experience burnout, anxiety, depression, relationship problems and many other difficulties. Sadly, they often feel like they can't talk about it because of the stigma attached to mental health and the expectation that wealth and success make problems easier to bear.
This article on Forbes listed some reasons why high achievers and successful people seek therapy being imposter syndrome, the reasons behind their drive, the fear of loosing everything, guilt from success and loneliness.
Seeking help is never a sign of weakness; on the contrary, understanding yourself to the point of looking for a professional to support you investigating your emotions is a display of strength. Being in therapy is not easy; it can be one of the hardest things to embark on. Every one deserves to be happy, fulfilled and free from the pressure to always be on top of things and perfect.
Therapy can help you to:
- Understand your emotions and why you feel the way you do;
- Come to terms with your past and explore your current experiences;
- Build healthier relationships with yourself and others;
- Identify what your needs are and improve your relationships;
- Set healthy boundaries;
- Manage stress and anxiety;
- Build a stronger sense of self-worth and confidence;
- Develop healthy coping mechanisms.
Seeking a 'Celebrity Therapist' or a 'Therapist to the stars' is not necessary. A therapist that is trained and experienced in working with the human mind, emotions, development and distress is all that you need. There are lots of therapists you can reach out to, that are verifiable, qualified and registered with reputable membership bodies such as UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists) and BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and you can browse their profiles on sites such as Psychology Today. A good therapist will help you in building a more fulfilling life, prioritizing care for yourself and support you in making better decisions.
If you would like to explore therapy, I introduce myself to you.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Life Coach and I am registered with UKCP and BACP. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in advertising, public relations, client management, public administration and environmental management. I work with a wide variety of client issues including anxiety, stress, imposter syndrome, self-worth issues, family conflict, relationship problems, difficult decisions, life path and identity issues. My clients range from busy professionals who juggle demanding schedules and lifestyles to stay at home parents who do a great job for everyone else and want to start to refocus on their own needs.
In our work together, I will use an integrative model of psychodynamic therapy and attachment theory, through a person-centred approach to explore the issues you bring. Sessions with me are usually weekly at a mutually agreed time and we can work short-term or open-ended, depending on your needs and what you would like to achieve. I offer a confidential non-judgemental space where you can talk freely and explore any difficult issues or simply to walk with you in your current path. I know that not everyone can come to see me at my office in Stourbridge so we can have online therapy sessions to enable you fit therapy into your busy schedule without having to leave your home, hotel, studio or office.
If you're ready to take the next step and begin therapy with me, go ahead and reach out. Book a free online therapy consultation which will take place by phone. If you would like your sessions in-person, check out my office location. Your free consultation will by by phone.
I'm here to listen and support you. Alternatively, send me a text on 07400406855 and I will get back in touch.
